About The Position

Stryten Energy builds batteries that power your world, from cars and trucks to forklifts and railways. Our Salina facility, part of the transportation division, is seeking a Summer Intern for Controls Engineer (Robotics & Automation). This paid internship will run from May 2027 to August 2027, working 40 hours a week. The intern will contribute to increasing automation needs across the manufacturing facility, with visibility into pasting, assembly, and formation operations. The role focuses on manufacturing efficiency, operator safety, evaluating existing controls for improvements, and uptime standards, driving the company towards the next level of manufacturing automation. Interns are encouraged to present their learnings at the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • Working towards a degree in Electrical, Robotics & Automation, Controls, or Mechanical Engineering Technologies.
  • Graduating between December 2027 and May 2028.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Must have housing and transportation.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Help with increasing automation needs across the manufacturing facility.
  • Gain visibility in pasting, assembly, and formation operations from a manufacturing efficiency rate, operator safety, evaluating existing controls for improvements, and uptime standard.
  • Drive the company to the next level of manufacturing automation.
  • Use standard procedures, simulate, and test PLCs for automation, specifically around the application of robotics and its integration with the battery manufacturing process.
  • Increase production speed at the current quality requirements and uptime where applicable.
  • Grow knowledge of the facility team and improve documentation.
  • Present what you have learned at the end of your internship.
