Locations: Warren, Michigan Milford, Michigan About the Team The ADAS Software organization plays a pivotal role in developing software that supports GM’s advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving capabilities. Interns may support either the ADAS Application Software team or the ADAS Mapping Software team, working with cross-functional partners to deliver reliable, integrated, and tested software for features such as Super Cruise, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering, Front and Rear Impact Mitigation, Lane Keep Assist, and other ADAS capabilities. The ADAS Application Software team focuses on software that enables ADAS features and vehicle behaviors. The ADAS Mapping Software team focuses on software that uses map-related data and services to support ADAS functionality. Work may span development, testing, integration, analysis, and documentation, depending on team and project needs. About the Role As an intern, you will contribute to software projects supporting GM ADAS systems. The specific area of focus may include application software, mapping software, embedded software, testing, integration, or related development activities. You will work with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to help develop robust software solutions and improve the reliability and efficiency of ADAS products.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week, during the internship.

Nice To Haves

  • Embedded software experience or knowledge.
  • Software product line experience or knowledge.
  • MATLAB/Simulink experience or knowledge.
  • C, C++, Kotlin, and/or Java software skills.
  • Experience with software development, testing, integration, or technical documentation.
  • Interest in ADAS, automated driving, mapping, or automotive software systems.
  • Intent to return to a degree program after completion of the internship.
  • Graduating between December 2027 and June 2028

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, implement, integrate, and test software solutions for ADAS systems.
  • Write and maintain code in C, C++, Kotlin, Python, and/or Java.
  • Support software development for ADAS application functionality, mapping-related capabilities, or other software components as assigned.
  • Analyze software behavior and help improve reliability, performance, and efficiency.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Perform unit testing, regression testing, integration testing, and system testing.
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners to investigate issues and support software integration.
