About The Position

BASECAMP Summer Group Leader provides educational, enrichment, and social emotional support for 90 school-age children during our 10-week summer camp. If you are passionate about providing engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning and enrichment opportunities for school-age children during their summer break, this could be a great opportunity for you! This position is a temporary, full-time position and reports to the BASECAMP Manager.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of experience working with school-age children in an out-of-school time setting required
  • Knowledge and experience in youth development program and principles
  • Experience supervising and leading field trips, including on public transportation
  • Ability to maintain boundaries and communicate effectively with school-age children
  • Ability to connect with camp participants genuinely and with positive reinforcement
  • Ability to motivate and spark curiosity and a joy of learning among camp participants
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with peers, families, and partners
  • Ability to bend, lift, and move up to 20 lbs
  • Ability to meet required state, federal, local, and CDC standards (including but not limited to fingerprint clearance, negative TB test, First Aid, CPR)

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learner-centered summer camp environment
  • Collaborate with other group leaders to co-facilitate lesson plans and engaging materials
  • Participate in off-site field trips to expand participants’ experience and access to learning
  • Co-facilitate and support lessons with outside specialists and partnership programs
  • Support participants’ social and emotional development and provide positive guidance
  • Use age-appropriate positive guidance techniques and model behavior for children
  • Deliver daily lessons aligned with the Desired Results Developmental Profile School-Age©(DRDP) assessment
  • Follow all program policies and procedures, including security and health checks
  • Build intentional and meaningful relationships with and among children
