About The Position

The Community Charter School of Paterson is seeking Summer School Group Leaders to join the 2026 Summer Program. This role involves advocating for the well-being of students, adhering to school policies, and acting as a role model. The position requires strong communication and collaboration skills, a passion for helping children achieve their aspirations, and a commitment to staying current on best practices in community schools. The Summer School Group Leader will develop, implement, and supervise specialized activities with the Program Coordinator, including areas like College and Career Awareness, Recreation, Cultural Arts, Health and Wellness, and Character Development.

Requirements

  • 1 Year of Experience in Youth Development
  • Very strong computer skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and Outlook.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, and school partners, including school administration and staff.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate as a high-functioning, school-based team member.
  • Ability to make significant contributions to an effective school/community partnership.
  • Ability to work well with a team and independently.
  • Have a passion for helping all children achieve their highest aspirations.
  • Participate enthusiastically in structured and informal learning and development opportunities.
  • Team player: maturity, humility, strong work ethic, follow-through, sense of humor, willingness to respond positively to feedback, and a “roll-up-my-sleeves” attitude.
  • Strong belief in an “achievement” mission and educational model.
  • Research and stay current on best practices in community schools and 21st Century Community Learning Centers.
  • Understanding and experience of education in an urban setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree preferred.
  • Spanish speaking preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Advocate for the well-being of all CCSP’s students.
  • Adheres to CCSP’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Acts as a role model within and outside of CCSP.
  • Understands and supports the mission, vision, goals, and values of CCSP.
  • Communicate regularly with the supervisor about program issues.
  • Performs duties as workload necessitates.
  • Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Consistently reports to work on time and prepared to perform duties of the position.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise specialized activities with the Program Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned
