About The Position

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYC Police Department is seeking interested GRADUATE and LAW SCHOOL students for our 2026 Summer Internship Program. Summer Interns are employed in various NYPD commands for up to 13 weeks between June and September 2026. Interns will be matched to assignments based on their major.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college, university or law school.
• Proof of enrollment must be uploaded to be considered.
• Home address on cover letter and resume.
• Indicate NYPD home precinct if living in the five boroughs of NYC.
• Expected date of graduation and major on resume.

Nice To Haves

• Intermediate level computer skills and/or knowledge of specific applications and programs

Responsibilities

• Preparation of spreadsheet and reports
• Research
• Statistical analysis
• Computer work requiring intermediate level computer skills and/or knowledge of specific applications and programs
• Accounting or bookkeeping duties
• Legal research and paralegal work
• Forensic science analysis and research
• Assistance on projects related to policy initiatives
