This internship offers exposure to a manufacturing environment that promotes and encourages innovation, teamwork, and exposure to many facets of modern manufacturing. Ruger believes that during your time as an intern, you will have an experience that will grow your resume more than any other recognizable manufacturing company. Interns work directly with a mentor on a manufacturing line and are assigned a "summer project" intended to give them the opportunity to design and build something that will be implemented into the production line. Progress is monitored by a mentor and other engineers in design review settings. Portions of this project are to be completed individually as well as with other Ruger employees. Interns will also spend some days shadowing their mentor in supporting production, attending design reviews, new product development meetings, interacting with outside suppliers, planning product flow and improvements to manufacturing. You will also have the opportunity to work directly with production associates to learn how manufacturing methods work in real time. The company cultivates a "Servant Leader" atmosphere, where the role is to solve problems and provide solutions to manufacturing line associates to make their jobs function smoothly. At the end of the internship, interns will have the chance to practice communication skills by creating a presentation delivered to engineering and management.
