About The Position

As a Summer Advantage Dual Teacher, you are responsible for delivering morning academic lessons in accordance with the Summer Advantage program model as outlined during pre-program professional development. Academic lessons will include two dedicated hours of reading and ELA and an hour dedicated to Math. As an afternoon enrichment teacher, you will be responsible for creating an engaging 5-week enrichment course that stems from your own hobbies and passions and introduces a unique and engaging offering to our summer scholars. On Fridays, Dual Teachers will travel and support Friday field trips, college visits, and service-learning projects.

Requirements

  • Valid State Teaching Certification required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Previous classroom experience required.
  • Ability to create lesson plans for enrichment offering.
  • Availability for the full summer program period, including pre-program responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to implementing the SA program model with fidelity.
  • Maintains a positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Math and/or Reading endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver morning academic lessons including two hours of reading/ELA and one hour of Math.
  • Create and execute an engaging 5-week enrichment course based on personal hobbies and passions.
  • Support Friday field trips, college visits, and service-learning projects.
  • Attend all pre-program training.
  • Deliver the SA academic curriculum and assist scholars in academic growth through whole group lessons and data-informed small groups.
  • Create and execute an engaging afternoon curriculum, subject to program manager approval.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to Teacher Assistants.
  • Manage and set up the classroom prior to program launch, including displaying rules and expectations.
  • Manage scholar behavior and discipline.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with parents/guardians mid-way through the program.
  • Adjust enrichment course and lessons based on scholar engagement.
  • Plan a presentation for the closing celebration, aligned with the enrichment offering.
