About The Position

BerryDunn is seeking a Health and Human Services (HHS) Consulting Intern to join our State Government Practice Group (SGPG). Our team focuses on serving the organization, information technology, and management needs of state and territorial government agencies. We have worked with hundreds of state and territorial government agencies throughout the United States. We understand the needs of these agencies, their fiscal constraints, and their commitment to serving constituents. You can expect to receive guidance from the supervisor(s), consultant or principal in charge of an engagement or project working with our HHS practices (e.g., Public Health, Behavioral Health, Human Services, and Technology Advisory Services). Work performed will be closely supervised through coaching and training. With guidance from staff members in the HHS practice area, you will become familiar with the firm’s systems, operations and relationships. The firm expects you to demonstrate flexibility, have a willingness to seek out advice, and exhibit an ambition for learning. This internship is optimally based in either our Portland, Maine or Kapolei, Hawaii offices. The internship dates are as follows: May 25, 2027 to August 6, 2027. In order to be considered, you must include your unofficial academic transcription with your application.

Requirements

  • Working toward a BA/BS/MS Degree in Health or Human Services disciplines, Political Science, Finance, Management Information Systems or something similar.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the general consulting process.
  • Follow appropriate diagnostic, data collection, fact finding, and data analysis practices.
  • Develop skills in written and verbal communications.
  • Keep supervisors and others informed of status of assigned projects.
  • Participate in staff/team meetings and training and work effectively as a team player on multiple client projects.
  • Provide ad hoc assessments and briefings in response to client requests.
  • Assist with project management tasks such as tracking and reporting project progress, maintaining project document repository, and reviewing deliverables for quality assurance.
  • Develop concise summaries, reports, and presentations of complex data for client leadership.
  • Perform assigned administrative tasks effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist in performing consulting engagements of all sizes. This may involve such tasks as conducting research, assisting with detailed and technical aspects of the engagement, documenting the engagement and assisting with engagement reporting
