About The Position

The Summer Camp Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for children participating in the Ukrainian Summer Camp 2026. The role focuses on supporting children’s social, emotional, cultural, and educational development through structured activities that promote cultural exchange, creativity, and community building. The Summer Camp Teacher will work under the Ukrainian Refugee School Impact Grant initiative and is responsible for implementing daily educational and recreational programming for children. This includes fostering a positive group environment, supporting children’s well-being, and actively participating in cultural, educational, and recreational activities designed to promote integration, creativity, and intercultural understanding.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Be 18 years old
  • Experience working with children in educational, camp, or community settings
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license and authorization to work
  • Must successfully complete background check in accordance with Ohio law (ODJFS)

Nice To Haves

  • additional education in education, child development, or related field preferred
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and functional English preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and supervise daily camp activities for assigned age group
  • Facilitate educational, cultural, recreational, and team-building activities
  • Support children’s social-emotional development through positive behavior guidance
  • Encourage cultural exchange and appreciation of Ukrainian and American traditions
  • Monitor and ensure child safety, well-being, and participation in all activities
  • Communicate with camp leadership regarding student needs, concerns, or incidents
  • Assist in organizing special events, field activities, and group presentations
  • Support inclusive participation of children of varying backgrounds and abilities
  • Implement camp activities
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Promote teamwork, respect, and cultural understanding among participants
  • Support language development and communication in diverse groups
  • Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Support transition of children between activities and maintain structured routines
  • Work cooperatively with camp staff, administrators, families, and community partners
  • Maintain accurate attendance, activity logs, and incident reports as required
  • Ensure safety and supervision of children at all times
  • Follow all USCRI policies, procedures, and child protection guidelines
  • Participate in scheduled training, planning meetings, and staff meetings
  • Maintain professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality at all times
