About The Position

Norman Bird Sanctuary is seeking seasonal Teacher Naturalists for our Summer Camp program. Teacher Naturalists lead groups of 12-15 campers aged 4-11 years old; plan and teach a variety of hands-on, nature-based camp activities; oversee camper health and safety; communicate with staff and parents; and supervise high school Assistant Naturalists in Training (A.N.T.s). Term of employment runs June 12 – August 14, including 5 days of staff training with a CPR and First AID certification option for those who are not already certified. Fledglings & Goslings | Ages 4-5 years | Monday-Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm Nature Day |Ages 6-11 years | Monday-Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm Coastal Camp |Ages 8-11 years | Monday-Friday, 8:00 am–4:00 pm

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old by June 1, 2026
  • Must be available June 12th -August 14th
  • Experience working with children in a responsible and professional educational setting
  • Knowledge of or a strong interest in the natural sciences
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must pass national and state background checks

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or coursework towards a college degree in education, environmental science, or biology preferred
