About The Position

The Camp Nurse is responsible for the day-to-day care of illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies that occur on camp facilities for campers, staff, guests, and visiting professional athletes. This role requires knowledge of illnesses, injuries, sport injury prevention, and basic medical treatments. The Medical Staff will work closely with visiting professional athletes to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all. Requirements

  • 1+ Years as a: Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
  • Active Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Licensure / Compact State (Multi-State Licensure)
  • Must have 1+ years of experience working with kids and/or teens
  • Must have CPR Certification
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, comfortable presenting and deploying new technologies
  • Demonstrate broad technical knowledge of management techniques
  • Proven ability to collaborate well across functions and departments, to work as part of a team
  • Provide work related references upon request
  • Successful completion of all pre-hire background checks, including criminal history clearance through the Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH), child abuse clearance through the Department of Public Welfare, Motor Vehicle Record if required by position and federal background screening via FBI fingerprinting
  • Must have or be able to obtain Mandated Reporter Training Certificate
  • Must have or be able to obtain Safesport Training Certificate
  • Ability to project manage and prioritize multiple tasks at the same time

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and be a knowledgeable resource of current and proposed standards of practice and PA state guidelines of Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant
  • Ensuring adherence to HIPPA standards
  • Work as a team within the Nursing Station, Athletic Training Room, and Transportation Department to ensure the best care is provided to all on camp property
  • Provide comprehensive medical care to all campers, guests, and staff
  • Attend and participate in staff training to acquire knowledge for behavior management techniques, emergency evacuation procedures, etc.
  • Maintain records on campers, staff, and guests utilizing internal platforms
  • Recognize changes in patients' condition and respond appropriately
  • Oversee the medicine administration process to all campers, staff, and guests
  • Support athletic trainers and EMTs whom are the primary assessment of injured campers, staff, and guests
  • Contribute to overall organization and administration of the Nurses Station
  • Schedule and follow-up evaluation and check-in appointments as needed
  • Act as a liaison between parents, coaches, program staff, and athletes regarding illnesses, injury care, prevention, management, and treatment
  • Maintain Woodward's safety logs, operational sheets and incident logs
  • Train and develop students to ensure health and safety are executed to Woodward's standards
  • Provide oversight to students
  • Maintain a positive learning environment for clinical education of students and other medical personnel
  • Attend weekly meetings to discuss current issues and safety lists
  • Provide on-call overnight coverage on a rotational basis every night via phone and radio coverage
  • Take daily inventory on supplies and operational needs
  • Communicate any and all maintenance needed to uphold a safe and sanitized medical facility
  • Attend camper orientation to provide education on health and safety
  • Help facilitate safety and wellness across the entire camp
  • Support storytelling, social and content ideas for medical, health and safety
  • Other duties as assigned
