About The Position

The Summer Camp Mentor helps/supports personal, social, creative and educational growth in young people to help them reach their full potential at program. The Youth Mentor will motivate, model and help create a community to support area youth in areas requiring assistance, such as mentoring, skill-building and personal growth.

Requirements

High School graduate, GED
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish)
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, parents or employees of organization.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in community-based nonprofits or social service organizations.
Experience working with diverse populations

Responsibilities

Helps plan and support the implementation of after school programs & clubs for youth 11-18 years old.
Provides high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for after school participants.
Supervises youth and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
Maintains a consistent schedule for after school participants.
Helps facilitates lesson plans for daily activities.
Organizes and leads various small and large group activities
Ensures the cleanliness of the site.
Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the after-school program.
Records and tracks after school’s dietary restrictions/allergies and ensures that the meals/snacks are distributed to them.
Help mediate any youth disputes with support from other Staff.
Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the after-school program.
Other duties as assigned.
