About The Position

We are seeking reliable, hard-working, and self-motivated individuals to join our food service team at a non-profit summer camp. The role involves providing nutritious meals for campers, contributing to a positive summer camp experience for children from all socioeconomic backgrounds. This position offers a chance to work and live within a camp community, with opportunities for professional development and a culturally diverse environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Ability to take/pass ServSafe food handler online course.
  • Ability to safely use kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate electrical/mechanical kitchen equipment (within the limits of child labor laws).
  • Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the job.
  • Physical ability to participate in all facets of camp food service operations.
  • Ability to work long hours or split shifts if needed.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, integrity, self-motivation and adaptability.
  • Desire to work and live in a camp community with a diverse population of staff and campers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience helping in kitchen settings is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Load/unload supplies from delivery trucks, stock supply closets and walk-in cooling units.
  • Prepare food by washing, peeling, cutting, assembling, slicing, and packaging ingredients.
  • Serve meals in the dining hall and prepare pack-out meals.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and kitchen equipment by hand and using a machine.
  • Clean, stock, and inventory refrigerators, freezers, and stockroom.
  • Clean and sanitize the kitchen, dining hall areas, restrooms, and outdoor trash areas, including mopping and sweeping.
  • Dispose of trash, compost, and recyclables properly.
  • Follow all food health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with other Food Service duties as assigned.
