About The Position
The Summer Camp (Billiken Recess Day Camp) Group Leader/Camp Counselor role is critical to the successful implementation of our Summer Youth Camp program. This role involves direct supervision of youth participants, planning and leading daily activities, assisting with logistics such as field trips and lunch supervision, and serving as a primary point of contact for campers and their families. Requirements
- Direct supervision of youth participants.
- Close monitoring during activities such as swimming, field trips, and sports.
- Maintaining appropriate staff-to-camper ratios.
- Planning and leading daily activities aligned with weekly themes.
- Ensuring engagement and age-appropriate experiences.
- Assisting with logistics including field trips, lunch supervision, and all-camp events.
- Providing flexibility for before/after care coverage and staffing gaps.
- Professionalism and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work extended daily hours.
Responsibilities

- Ensure engagement and age-appropriate experiences through a variety of programming (arts, recreation, educational components).
- Manage transitions, set up programming, and supervise concurrent activities.
- Support participant satisfaction and strengthen the reputation of SLU’s youth programs.
