About The Position

Kingswood Community Center is seeking energetic, creative individuals to join our summer camp team and make a meaningful impact in young lives. As a Summer Camp Counselor, you'll dive into days filled with adventure, creativity, and growth – not just for our campers, but for yourself too. Create magical moments through sports, arts, field trips, and educational activities while building leadership skills that will benefit you in any future career. We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Summer Camp Counselors to create a safe, engaging, and fun environment for children ages 5–12 during our summer program, which will be hosted at our partner school, East Side Charter School. Counselors will plan and lead daily activities, supervise campers, and serve as positive role models while ensuring all children have a memorable and enriching summer experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • At least one year of working with youth ages 5-12.
  • First Aid/CPR preferred; must be certified within first 10 days of hire.
  • A satisfactory criminal background and reference check.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Communicate and present effectively.
  • Manage multiple activities with strong attention to detail and effective time management skills.
  • Work with multiple age levels of children.
  • Be a team player, adapt to change, and demonstrate flexibility.
  • Demonstrate excellent judgment, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure the safety and wellbeing of campers at all times
  • Plan, organize, and lead a variety of activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, swimming, field trips, and educational programs
  • Implement age-appropriate curriculum that encourages creativity, physical activity, and social development
  • Maintain positive relationships with campers, parents, and fellow staff members
  • Assist with daily operations including check-in/check-out procedures, meal times, and transitions between activities
  • Monitor and manage camper behavior using positive guidance techniques
  • Document and communicate any incidents, accidents, or concerns to camp leadership
  • Attend all required staff training sessions and weekly staff meetings
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of daily activities and special events
