About The Position

The PIIC Student Summer Camp Student Counselor will manage support daily operations of the Summer Camp during all program hours (Monday–Thursday, 8am-4pm for 16 days – June 8-July 2, 2026). Responsibilities will include supervising and engaging with student activities, reporting accidents or issues immediately, providing weekly summary of each week of the camp, participating in a post camp meeting with camp coordinator and the Summer Camp Counselor, will ensure adherence to policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school student or working towards GED completion.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • First Responder Certified or willing to be certified.
  • Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and can read, interpret and follow procedural and policy manuals related to the job tasks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
  • Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Present a professional image in word, action and attire.
  • Apply effective techniques to create working relationships with others to achieve common goals; successfully communicates and collaborates with others to achieve goals.
  • Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and process critically to make recommendations for improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well within the existing team and government structure
  • Sensitive to Native American Culture
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability
  • Pass drug screen (UA) and a federal criminal background check in compliance with the Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act and the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in summer camp or youth program setting.
  • Proficiency in using a computer and common computer software programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Meeting the camp transportation daily at arrival and dismissal.
  • Escorting campers to and from assigned rooms and participating daily activities
  • Remain with campers during programming, assisting camp staff as needed.
  • Take daily attendance and submit to Activities Coordinator each morning
  • Provide mentoring and tutoring support for students.
  • Accompany campers on any off-site field trips.
  • Assist with pre-camp coordination including room scheduling, ordering, and preparing materials.
  • Ensures all students are accounted for and reports any/ all missing students immediately
  • Assist with post-camp reporting including expense/budget reporting, survey analysis, and final reporting.
  • Coordinate with safety or EMT staff in case of emergency.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
