About The Position

Stratford School, part of Spring Education Group, is a leading independent WASC-accredited private school in California offering courses from preschool through 12th grade with a vision of creating a unique, multi-dimensional educational foundation for children. We are currently hiring for a Summer Camp Counselor with strong communication skills to join our team. In this role, you will create an engaging and educational experience for campers throughout the summer. You will facilitate art and STEAM-based activities while fostering a fun, safe, and enriching environment. You will also collaborate with fellow camp staff to ensure the well-being and success of all campers.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience working with children (camp, school, or childcare setting preferred)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and individual camper needs
  • Patient, creative, enthusiastic, and passionate about working with children
  • Flexible and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, including outdoor conditions
  • Frequently walk, stand, sit, squat, stoop, reach, kneel, rise from the floor, twist, listen, read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Often carry, lift, use repetitive or fine hand movements, and occasionally push, pull, or bend.
  • Regularly required to hear and use clear vision with or without correction.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and supervision of campers at all times, both indoors and outdoors, during activities, meals, and free time
  • Maintain accurate camper accountability through continuous headcounts, especially in specialty areas
  • Follow and execute the daily schedule set by the Camp/Extended Care Director
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment while reinforcing camp rules and expectations
  • Plan, implement, and lead specialty activities; provide supply needs to the Camp Director
  • Encourage active camper participation and engagement in all activities and events
  • Report and document all accidents or injuries promptly to leadership
  • Manage camper behavior appropriately and escalate ongoing concerns as needed
  • Maintain professional and courteous communication with parents/guardians
  • Attend all required staff meetings
  • Collaborate with camp staff to coordinate schedules, share resources, and support overall program success
  • Assist with arrival and dismissal procedures, including carpool and walker supervision
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the camp program
