About The Position

The role of the counselor at summer camp is to provide a nurturing, enriching, and Christ-centered environment where campers can grow spiritually, build meaningful relationships, and experience the transformative power of faith in their lives. Counselors must commit to working the months of June and July with time off upon request to camp directors. Counselors are given 4 to 8 hour shifts per day and may not exceed 40 hours per week. Summer Camp operates from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

Requirements

  • Counselors must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Be able to articulate their faith and demonstrate commitment to living out Christian principals in their daily lives
  • Minimum working age per NC Law
  • Must have experience with working with school age children
  • Experience in leading crafts, games and daily devotions
  • Be team players that are willing to collaborate with other counselors to create a positive camp environment
  • Able to use positive behavior management techniques

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Campers at all times
  • Assist and monitor campers during free play or centers (playdough, Legos, crafts)
  • Take campers to the restrooms and outside time
  • Monitor campers during and after lunch
  • Plan games and activities during Gym Time
