About The Position

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The YMCA Arlington is currently seeking an experience professional to join our team as the Summer Camp Assistant Program Director. Our ideal candidate is able to maintain high expectations while also ensuring a fun, and positive environment daily! The Assistant Program Director oversees the Summer Camp program.

Requirements

  • GED or college degree.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working primarily with preschool, school age, or summer camp children.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and administrative skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with children, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operations of the summer day camp programs.
  • Establishes relationships with individual children and families and being responsive to their needs.
  • Ensure all children receive enriching educational programming with a focus on positive experiences and child outcomes.
  • Provides assistance to staff in developing the summer camp curriculum that is fortified with meaningful experiences while meeting the needs and interests of the group and individual child.
  • Assist in interview and hire qualified staff.
  • Supervise and provide appropriate orientation and training for summer camp staff.
