About The Position

Performs tasks requiring an ordinary degree of skill in preparation of meals for delivery in the community and serving of food if necessary for limited in-school programs if offered as well as other tasks required for the operation and sanitary maintenance of a food service facility or area. All state mandatory safety measures must be followed consistently.

Requirements

Minimum of a High School Diploma
Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Valid Driver's License and mode of transportation to drive between school buildings required

Nice To Haves

Experience in food service industry preferred
Must be a positive contributor as a team player
Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) preferred
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

Prepares vegetables and other foods for cooking as necessary
Makes soups and other simple hot foods, sandwich fillings, salad dressing, and simple desserts as necessary.
Prepares sandwiches and salads.
Prepares lunch and snacks for delivery and/or service as necessary
Lift kitchen materials and supplies
Operates electrical equipment such as mixers, potato peelers, slicing machines, dishwashers, and toasters.
Cleans tables and other kitchen equipment.
Collects and washes dishes, silver and cooling utensils, and puts them away.
Sweeps floor, cleans counters and tables, and counter and kitchen equipment, such as food containers, trays, cooking ranges, garbage cans, and refrigerators.
Receives and checks deliveries of food and other supplies.
Stores food properly in refrigerators and storeroom.
Keeps stores in good order.
Assists in the taking of inventories of supplies, cashiering, and keeps simple records.
Works as a member of a cafeteria staff team
Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Principal, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee, and policies of the Marlborough School Committee.
