About The Position

The Fowler School of Law offers a unique and nationally-recognized bar preparation program designed to supplement traditional law school coursework and adequately prepare students for the California (and out-of-state) bar examination. This program is offered twice annually to align with bar test dates. The Summer Bar Prep Grader will support the Assistant Dean of Academic Achievement and the Assistant Director of Academic Achievement in evaluating student essays and/or performance tests.

Requirements

• Licensed attorney with prior experience assisting with the Bar Prep Program or teaching as a Part-Time Lecturer at the Fowler School of Law.
• Juris Doctor degree.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Read and comment on the substance and structure of essays and/or performance tests submitted by students.
• Track student progress using established tracking systems within the Academic Achievement department.
• Inform program administrators of any significantly substandard student performance to enable timely interventions.
