About The Position

Step into the world of local government and public works with our Summer Associate Program, designed for students and recent graduates eager to gain hands-on experience in municipal operations. This paid internship, running from late May/June to early/mid. August, offers the chance to collaborate with seasoned professionals. Interns will contribute to meaningful projects and assist with administrative tasks that drive the efficiency and success of District operations. Beyond acquiring real-world experience, participants will develop essential professional skills and engage in impactful public service. This program is your gateway to exploring a rewarding career in government.

Requirements

  • Understanding of municipal operations, policies, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with office equipment and software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong accuracy in documentation, reports, and correspondence.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated judgment, confidentiality, dependability, flexibility, cooperation, integrity, and strong ethical standards.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Capability to meet all physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Associates Degree program or recent completion of a degree within the last six months preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to department-specific projects, conduct research, and perform administrative tasks.
  • Handle office functions such as answering calls, managing emails, data entry, inventory oversight, and filing.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and various documents as required.
  • Update and manage department records, databases, and document systems.
  • Coordinate and organize meetings, schedules, and departmental events.
  • Safeguard sensitive information with professionalism and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Assist in planning and executing employee engagement initiatives and communications.
  • Provide general administrative support, research best practices, and participate in assorted projects.
  • Collaborate with District staff to support active infrastructure and development projects.
