About The Position
Porter Scott is seeking second-year law students (2Ls) for their Summer Law Clerk Program. This program offers the opportunity to develop practical litigation skills by working alongside experienced trial attorneys. Summer associates will be fully integrated into the firm, entrusted with meaningful work on active cases, and exposed to the realities of litigation. The program aims to bridge the gap between law school and legal practice, fostering confidence and practical skills for future attorneys. Porter Scott, founded in 1976, is Sacramento's largest exclusive civil litigation firm, known for its advocacy, professionalism, and commitment to developing young attorneys through hands-on experience. Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and other litigation-related documents
- Observe and participate in case strategy discussions
- Attend depositions, court hearings, mediations, and trials when available
- Work directly with attorneys across multiple practice areas
- Receive individualized mentoring and constructive feedback from experienced litigators
- Participate in weekly training sessions and professional development workshops
