About The Position

The Heyl Royster Summer Associate Program 2027 is designed for second-year law students, with applications from first-year students also considered. This program is the firm's primary method for recruiting new attorneys, aiming to provide a positive experience and an offer of full-time employment upon passing the bar. Summer Associates will gain legal experience and develop skills across various practice areas by working with attorneys in different groups and offices, including real work on active files under supervision and mentorship. The program balances rigorous work with social and networking opportunities, allowing participants to understand the practical application of law and get to know the firm's attorneys.

Requirements

  • Second-year law student (first-year students also accepted).
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Any job offer will be based on results of background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Intention to receive an offer for full-time employment with the firm after passing the bar.

Responsibilities

  • Gain legal experience and develop skills across multiple practice areas.
  • Work in as many different practice groups as possible.
  • Work with attorneys in the office where they may be for the summer and with skilled attorneys across the firm.
  • Work on active files with supervision and mentorship from licensed attorneys.
  • Participate in social and networking opportunities.
