About The Position

Five Star Bank’s Summer Associate Program is designed to develop the next generation of financial services professionals to help us advance our vision of being an independent, high-performing community bank. As a Banking Operations Summer Associate, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting the bank’s core operational functions, including deposit operations, payment processing, account servicing, and quality control. You will support the Operations team to help ensure transactions are processed accurately, internal service levels are met, and regulatory standards are upheld—all of which are essential to delivering a strong customer experience. This job description is not exhaustive. The Summer Associate may be required to perform other duties as assigned. The expected rate of pay for this position is shown above. Compensation offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education and, where applicable, licenses or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to your base rate of pay and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates may be eligible to receive cash or equity-based incentives based on the role and performance.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or a related field, with junior-level standing or higher preferred.
Located at our Corporate HQ in Warsaw, NY
Candidates must be available to work a hybrid work model, 40 hours per week for the duration of the program starting in June
Occasional travel within corporate footprint (Buffalo and Rochester) will also be required
At least 1 year in one or more club(s), volunteerism efforts, or other activities outside of the classroom
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Interest in banking and deposit operations
Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and attention to detail
Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to learn in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling is a plus

Responsibilities

Support day-to-day banking operations, including tasks related to deposit operations, item processing, and account maintenance
Assist with reconciling transactions, processing exceptions, and performing quality checks
Help research and resolve internal inquiries related to transaction activity and account servicing
Contribute to the review and enhancement of standard operating procedures across multiple operational functions
Participate in the processing and verification of ACH transactions, check clearing, stop payments, and returned items
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure service and compliance standards are consistently met
Assist with operational reporting, documentation, and process involvement initiatives
