About The Position

The Summer Adventure Camp Program Specialist assists in overseeing the onsite operations of a Clayton Summer Adventure Camp location by supporting the Summer Adventure Camp Coordinator in the coordination and management of daily operations and programming. This role involves delivering daily programming to small groups of campers both indoors and outdoors, ensuring adherence to all policies, procedures, health, safety, and regulatory compliance rules. The specialist will communicate regularly with campers and peers, engage in outdoor activities, and supervise groups during field trips and special events. A key aspect of the role is demonstrating strong social and emotional leadership competencies, including self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. This includes understanding the impact of emotions on performance, managing behaviors productively, understanding diverse perspectives, building positive relationships, and making constructive choices based on ethical standards and safety concerns.

Requirements

  • Normal degree of computer proficiency using Microsoft Office.
  • Maintain annual training requirements as mandated.
  • Obtain current CPR and First Aid certification.

  • Conduct oneself in a professional, ethical manner, in accordance with generally accepted community standards and organization’s employee policies.
  • Ability to complete childcare background check process and preservice requirements.
  • Ability to present yourself in a professional manner, communicate, and listen to others.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • At least six months of experience working with children or in a childcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in overseeing the onsite operations of a Clayton Summer Adventure Camp location.
  • Support the Summer Adventure Camp Coordinator in the coordination and management of daily operations and programming.
  • Deliver daily programming to a small group of campers indoor and outdoors.
  • Follow all policies and procedures while supervising assigned small group.
  • Follow all health, safety and regulatory compliance rules and requirements.
  • Communicate with campers and peers regularly.
  • Engage in outdoor activities and are frequently in the sun.
  • Attend and supervise small group on busses, fieldtrips and during special events.
  • Request supplies from the Summer Camp Coordinator.
  • Attend all assigned training sessions.
  • Maintain positive relationships with campers and other camp staff.
  • Report all accidents and incidents and any suspected or known child abuse, neglect or endangerment to authorities.
  • Observe hazards or developments in the natural environment and alert appropriate staff.
  • Demonstrate self-awareness: Ability to fully understand the impact emotions have on performance, assessment of strengths and weaknesses, relationships, and others.
  • Demonstrate self-confidence, initiative, motivation, optimism and flexibility.
