Summer 2027 Intern - Data Engineering
About The Position
As a Product Pricing and Data Science Intern, you will support the development, pricing, and underwriting of insurance products. You will contribute to data engineering projects, analytics pipelines, cloud-based data platforms, and applications using embedded agentic AI capabilities, gaining hands-on experience with Python, BigQuery, and Airflow. American Family Insurance’s summer internship is a 10- to 14-week program beginning in mid to late May and ending in August. Interns work on projects that support the company, its customers, and communities, and have opportunities to learn about different areas of the business, network, and receive coaching. Selected interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs, depending on their proximity to an AmFam office. The position may be full-time in-office or hybrid, depending on the selected candidate’s location. The listed work location is Madison, Wisconsin. Employees participate in New Employee Orientation during their first week, typically in person at the Madison headquarters or another AmFam core location, although sessions may be virtual depending on scheduling and availability. The offer is contingent on applicable background checks and signing a nondisclosure agreement. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
Requirements
- Must be a student at an accredited four-year college or university during the internship and graduate in August 2027 or later.
- Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Data Science or Computer Science.
Nice To Haves
- Candidates graduating in August 2028 or later are strongly preferred.
