About The Position

Hachette Book Group’s summer internship program offers individuals an opportunity to learn about the publishing industry and explore an area of interest. To learn more about the company, visit our career site: https://www.hachettebookgroup.com/about/careers/ Program dates: June 1st, 2026 – End date: August 6th, 2026 Location: NYC Hybrid (three days per week on-site) Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program. Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break. Pay rate: $17.00/hour As an HBG editorial intern at Basic Books Group, you will have the opportunity to work closely with seasoned professionals and gain hands-on professional experience as you own day-to-day tasks, help with special projects, and attend departmental meetings. Basic’s in-person summer intern will support our team by assisting editorial staff with projects pertaining to both Basic’s frontlist and backlist. We are looking for a motivated and organized individual who is eager to learn about the publishing industry and be part of an intellectually curious team. This position is an opportunity for someone with an interest in serious ideas who wants to learn about all editorial facets of book publishing, from acquisition to post-publication. Requirements

College student, graduating senior, or recent graduate
Strong interest in nonfiction book publishing
Comfortable working with books across nonfiction categories and the political spectrum
Extremely detail oriented and organized
Self-starter with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Resourceful with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and work independently
Possess a great attitude and a desire to learn
Proficient in MS Word and Excel
