About The Position

The Suites Captain coordinates the general operation of Suites activities in accordance with customer needs, company events and operational flow. This role involves overseeing and facilitating all Suites activities and group events during live racing seasons, continuously monitoring activities on all levels, and immediately addressing concerns as they arise. The position ensures employees are properly oriented and trained on operational procedures, quality standards, policies, customer service expectations, and food and beverage knowledge. Responsibilities include follow-up with customers to ensure special requests are met, assisting with daily closing procedures for each Suites level, and ensuring accurate inventory counts. The role also focuses on encouraging teamwork, professionalism, and creativity among staff, maintaining proper inventory par levels, and interacting with personnel and the public in a professional manner. Contributing to a positive work environment and working necessary hours for customer satisfaction, including being on-call, are key aspects. The Suites Captain remains on duty until live racing or other entertainment concludes and assists in executing special events. Dependability, good attendance, and occasional overtime are required, with the possibility of working evenings, weekends, or holidays. The ability to accomplish a multitude of assigned duties is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or combination.
  • Working knowledge of beer, wine and liquor and common drink recipes.
  • Excellent customer service and communications skills required.
  • Ability to apply common understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Capacity to write simple correspondence.
  • Possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Outgoing personality and positive attitude.
  • Strong knowledge of bar operations, service procedures and function.
  • Ability to handle money and operate a cash register quickly and efficiently.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).
  • Possess honesty and integrity.
  • Have good memory when handling multiple orders.
  • Ability to listen well, communicate effectively and follow instructions.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Ability to interact positively with customers, employees and management personnel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and be flexible.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and with constant interruptions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Five years of bartending experience required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency if applicable to perform the essential job functions.
  • Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission License (TABC)
  • Serve-safe certified (Food Handlers)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily closing of each Suites level.
  • Ensure inventory counts are accurately conducted and recorded at the end of each month.
  • Encourage teamwork, professionalism, and creativity among staff.
  • Maintain proper inventory par levels in accordance with departmental policies.
  • Interact with personnel and the general public in a professional, ethical manner.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by participating in company and/or employee events and activities.
  • Work hours necessary to ensure customer satisfaction, which may include long hours and/or remaining on-call for problem-solving purposes.
  • Remain on duty until live racing or other entertainment is concluded and assist in executing special events as needed.
  • Be dependable, maintain good attendance, and work occasional overtime.
  • Work evenings, weekends, or holidays as scheduled.
  • Accomplish a multitude of duties as assigned.
