About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) is seeking an experienced Field Technician to join its Underground Utilities, Land Surveying, and Mapping team in Pittsburgh. The position is similar to a utility locator and involves field investigations, locating and marking subsurface utilities, and supporting utility mapping and survey work. Travel is required.

Immigration sponsorship or support, including H-1B and F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT, is not available, except for qualified candidates eligible for TN visa classification.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations.
• Operate equipment to locate and mark subsurface utilities.
• Label topographic features from field codes.
• Perform calculations.
• Complete daily reports and field-note sketches.
• Assist with training SUE staff in methods, equipment use, and field safety procedures.
• Participate in project meetings.
• Operate a vacuum excavation truck to expose underground utilities.
• Interpret roadway and utility plans and utility record drawings.
• Travel as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
