Requirements

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Familiarity with software and tools related to training and documentation.
  • Solid understanding of the NYS Justice Center and OPWDD regulations.
  • Proficiency in OPWDD Core Competencies and the Code of Ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Guiding new employees through their critical first six months in our residential program.
  • Providing individualized, person-centered skills training and support, ensuring that staff effectively assist individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Serving as a positive role model for teamwork.
  • Helping to shape a compassionate work culture focused on individual advocacy, rights, informed decision-making, and dignity of risk.
  • Making a meaningful impact not only on new employees but also on the lives of those we serve, fostering a supportive environment that encourages growth and empowerment.
  • Providing skills instruction and feedback on various job tasks such as cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene, and money management.
  • Reviewing orientation materials thoroughly and ensuring staff comprehension.
  • Regular interactions with new staff, supervisors, and administration.
  • Acting as a supportive liaison.
  • Observing, coaching, and providing constructive feedback to help in identifying performance concerns and fostering staff development.
