About The Position

STV is seeking a Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Technician to join our San Antonio, TX office. This role is responsible for designating buried utilities using advanced geophysical technologies and applications. The technician will accurately interpret subsurface information in the field and process data findings. Responsibilities include utilizing hydro-excavating equipment to perform test holes. Ongoing on-the-job training will be provided, and all OSHA & STV safety guidelines must be adhered to.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.
• Working knowledge of utility line locating equipment (SUE designating).
• Safe operation of company vehicle.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all fellow employees both in written and verbal format.

Nice To Haves

• Regular overnight travel out of town will be required.

Responsibilities

• Designating buried utilities using advanced geophysical technologies and applications.
• Accurately interpreting subsurface information in the field.
• Processing data findings.
• Utilizing hydro-excavating equipment to perform test holes.
• Ensuring the safety of all crew members, clients, and the public.
• Researching utility company records and using this information to perform field observations.
• Understanding project goals, scope of work, and client expectations.
• Excavating utilities and following all applicable guidelines for scope of work.
• Operating and maintaining Surveying and SUE equipment.
• Interpreting subsurface information in the field and during post processing.
• Communicating findings and analysis.
• Supporting both Surveying and SUE departments.
• Cross-training of both Surveying and SUE duties.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
