About The Position

Substitute Teachers are responsible for instructional and general classroom duties in-person in the Marlborough Public Schools for the 2026-2027 school year. The role requires the ability to follow a lesson plan, manage a class to maintain a safe and positive learning environment, and work cooperatively with other staff. The position involves team teaching and an interdisciplinary approach, and requires compliance with all building procedures and school and district policies. Instruction may need to be varied to meet student learning needs. The substitute teacher will provide guidance, communicate expectations, and show an active interest in student progress. Respect for personal privacy and maintaining confidentiality of privileged information is essential. Intervention and/or reporting to an administrator for concerning student behavior is also a responsibility. Willingness to participate in extra-curricular activities is a plus.

Requirements

  • 2 years of college or an Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of college and/or 2 years of relevant experience working with school-aged children will be considered.
  • Some knowledge of curriculum in area of interest: Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary Education.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree a plus.
  • Licensed by the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Massachusetts preferred but not required.
