About The Position

The Substitute Teacher plays a critical role in maintaining continuity of instruction and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher. This position requires the ability to quickly adapt to different classroom environments and grade levels, ensuring that students remain engaged and on track with their learning objectives. The substitute teacher is responsible for delivering lesson plans, managing student behavior, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere. They must be prepared to support diverse learners, including those with special education needs, and utilize differentiated instruction techniques to meet varied learning styles. Ultimately, the substitute teacher ensures that educational standards are upheld and that students receive consistent support to achieve their academic goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid substitute teaching certification or licensure as required by the state of employment.
  • Demonstrated experience or coursework in elementary education or teaching.
  • Basic proficiency in classroom management and instructional techniques.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Implement daily lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or develop appropriate instructional activities when plans are unavailable.
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
  • Record and maintain accurate student attendance and performance records.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of students with diverse learning abilities, including those requiring special education services.
  • Communicate effectively with students, school staff, and administration regarding classroom activities and any issues that arise during the school day.
