About The Position

The Diocese of Columbus operates 50 schools, primarily focused on teaching children to live as Christians and become happy, productive citizens. This role involves substitute teaching within these Catholic schools. Applicants must meet specific requirements to be added to the Diocese of Substitute Teacher list. The Diocese maintains online applications for two school years, and approved substitutes will be contacted annually to confirm their continued interest.

Requirements

  • Complete the Substitute Teacher Application.
  • Possess a Current Substitute Teaching License, Professional Teaching License, or Non-Tax Certificate.
  • Provide current satisfactory BCI & FBI background checks.
  • Attend or be willing to attend VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training.
  • Sign the substitute teacher job description and employment agreement.
  • Have results of BCI/FBI background checks sent to the Diocese of Columbus, Attn: Safe Environment Office, 197 E. Gay Street, Columbus, OH 43215 AND to the State Board of Education of Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Substitute teach in the Catholic schools of the Diocese of Columbus.
