POSITION SUMMARY The Substitute Teacher provides temporary instructional coverage in the absence of regular classroom teachers, ensuring continuity of curriculum delivery and a safe, structured learning environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must meet Michigan Department of Education (MDE) requirements for substitute teachers: valid Michigan teaching certificate, OR completion of at least 60 credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university
- Satisfactory criminal background check
Responsibilities
- Execute lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher; maintain continuity of instruction
- Maintain classroom management and foster a positive, productive learning environment
- Take attendance and communicate with the main office as required
- Implement school policies and procedures; ensure student safety at all times
- Leave a brief summary for the regular teacher regarding classroom activities and any concerns
