About The Position

The Substitute Teacher's primary role is to enable each child to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of their regular teacher. This position requires adherence to established routines, following lesson plans, and maintaining student behavior. The substitute teacher will report to the principal or a designated person and is expected to follow all school policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 64 semester hours.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • 2.45 GPA required

  • Holds a valid Kentucky teaching certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the principal or school secretary upon arrival at the school building.
  • Review with the principal or designated person, all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
  • Maintain, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.
  • Follow the lesson outlined and described in the lesson plan or plan book as prepared by the absent teacher.
  • Assume responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and, if appropriate, during lunch and recess periods.
  • Report, in writing, on the form provided by the school secretary, the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
  • Follow all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor.
