About The Position

NOW TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR! This role involves covering classes for absent teachers within the Webster Groves School District. Substitute teachers are expected to follow lesson plans, manage the classroom, and create a positive learning environment. The position requires flexibility and a commitment to supporting the district's mission.

Requirements

High school diploma
Valid Missouri Teacher Certificate, Missouri Substitute Certificate, or 60 hours of college credit from an approved college or university
Ability to follow and communicate lesson plans left by the permanent teacher
Ability to create a climate of respect and fairness for all students
Ability to establish and maintain appropriate classroom behavior/management
Willingness to be on call to cover absences of the regular teaching staff
Willingness to commit to working a minimum of three (3) days per semester
Ability to make connections with students through words and actions
Ability to create and support a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment

Nice To Haves

A Missouri Content Substitute Certificate may also be granted after the completion of the Frontline Education training program or a comparable training program offered by a MO DESE approved training provider.
