The Substitute Teacher is a key member of the classroom team, helping provide quality education for children and their families. The primary responsibility is to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The substitute plans engaging activities that support children's development, builds relationships that promote growth, communicates with staff and families, and maintains consistent routines during the regular teacher's absence. This is an on-call role. Assignments may occur on random days and may last from one day to a week or longer. Substitutes must show up for assignments they accept and work at least one shift every 45 days. The schedule can fluctuate, while offering flexibility. Starting as a substitute may provide a path to other positions, such as Classroom Aide, which include a pay raise and enrollment in a CDA program paid for by UCA. Pay is $16.00 per hour.
