About The Position

First Academy is seeking substitute teachers to cover half-day and full-day assignments, Monday through Friday. Half-day schedules are 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; full-day schedules are 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Substitute teachers may be contacted as early as 6:00 a.m. on the day coverage is needed. Pay is $50 for a half day and $100 for a full day.

Substitute teachers are expected to reflect personal faith in Jesus Christ through their lifestyle, church commitments, and commitment to Christian education. They must act professionally and courteously with students, families, faculty, staff, and the general public, and follow applicable school policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Be a born-again Christian and a member of a local church.
• Have a high school diploma.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Complete a required background check.
• Reflect personal faith in Jesus Christ through lifestyle, church commitments, and a commitment to Christian education.
• Be professional and courteous when dealing with students, families, faculty, staff, and the general public.
• Follow applicable school policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

• College education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take attendance according to the regular teacher’s instructions.
• Follow lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher.
• Send the regular classroom teacher a written note or email at the end of the day updating them on material or activities covered.
• Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as recess and chapel.
