About The Position

The Substitute Teacher follows the lesson plan left by the teacher being substituted, in accordance with Desert View School’s philosophy, goals, and objectives. The position is paid at a daily rate. Substitute teachers provide instruction to assigned classes, maintain an orderly and safe classroom conducive to learning, and work with assigned learning coaches to support continuity in students’ educational plans. They engage students according to the classroom learning team’s plan, address behavior using school procedures, and maintain attendance and other requested records. Whenever possible, they should be available to accept assignments without significant notice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Arizona Fingerprint clearance card.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction to assigned classes in designated locations and at designated times.
• Establish and maintain classroom order and an environment conducive to effective learning.
• Take necessary and reasonable measures to ensure student safety.
• Communicate effectively with the learning coaches assigned to the team and support continuity in students’ educational plans.
• Actively engage students according to the plan established by the classroom learning team.
• Redirect student behavior and use disciplinary alternatives in accordance with Desert View School procedures.
• Maintain accurate student attendance records and compile other records as requested.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Whenever possible, be available to take assignments without significant notice.
