About The Position

Bethany Athletic Club's new childcare center Bkids, seeks Substitute Teachers to join the Bkids team! The successful candidates will be responsible for supervising, nurturing, and caring for children from 6 weeks – 5 years old. These individuals are expected to, among other things, welcome children each day, engage in crafts and activities, change diapers and ensure the safety of all children. Schedule: Monday-Friday, shifts scheduled as needed between 7:00AM-5:30PM Age Groups: 6 weeks-5 years old Position Type: Substitute/On-Call

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must meet Oregon Child Care Licensing Division requirements for the position.
• Must be enrolled in or eligible for enrollment in the Central Background Registry.
• Must complete required CPR/First Aid and Oregon child care health and safety trainings.
• All team members must have the basic ability to use computer/smart phone applications for training and company system purposes.
• Employees must also be able to comprehend written documents such as work orders, safety rules, instructions, policies, and procedures.
• Also required is the ability of employees to speak and communicate effectively with clients, coworkers and management.

Nice To Haves

• Previous childcare experience preferred.
• For Teacher-qualified positions, applicants must meet one of Oregon’s approved education, Registry, credential, or qualifying experience pathways.
• Applicants must meet at least one Oregon teacher qualification pathway, such as: 750 hours of qualifying teaching experience in a certified child care center or comparable group-care program for the appropriate age group; 1,500 hours/one year of qualifying experience in registered or certified family child care; Oregon Registry Step 6 or qualifying college coursework; An Associate degree or higher in an approved child-development/education-related field; or A recognized credential such as a CDA appropriate to the age group.

Responsibilities

• Must provide availability for at least 3 weekdays per week between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM. Shifts are not guaranteed.
• Provide classroom coverage for teachers who are absent, taking PTO, on vacation, attending training, or otherwise unavailable.
• Work across Infant, Wobbler, Toddler, and Preschool classrooms based on daily staffing needs.
• Follow each classroom’s established schedule, routines, curriculum, and expectations.
• Maintain required teacher-to-child ratios and actively supervise children at all times.
• Support feeding, diapering, toileting, naps, meals, transitions, gross motor activities, and classroom activities depending on the age group.
• Engage children in positive, developmentally appropriate interactions and activities.
• Use positive behavior guidance and follow BKids classroom practices.
• Assist with classroom cleaning, sanitizing, organization, and daily maintenance.
• Communicate effectively with classroom teachers and administration regarding children’s needs and classroom information.
• Follow all licensing, health and safety, confidentiality, and BKids policies.
• Must be comfortable and willing to work with all children ages 6 weeks through 5 years old.
• Must have flexible availability and be dependable when accepting scheduled shifts.
• Hours will vary depending on staffing needs, with opportunities for both partial-day and full-day shifts.
• Substitute employees may be considered for permanent part-time or full-time positions as positions become available.
