About The Position

The Substitute Teacher position reports to the Director of the Child and Family Development Center and assists in the care and instruction of children 6 weeks to 5 years of age in an NAEYC accredited laboratory program. This position will help prepare and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum, assist in the planning and implementation of daily routines, and assist in daily preparation and maintenance of the Center’s learning environment.

Requirements

• Child Development Associate credential, 1 year early childhood certification, AA degree or equivalent coursework in early childhood education, child development or psychology required.
• Applicant should be able to create a positive, caring relationship with the children.
• Applicant should be able to create a good working relationship with coworkers.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility in working with parents, college faculty and practicum students from diverse cultural backgrounds is also necessary.
• Standing, walking, stooping, sitting, crouching, bending.
• Must be able to lift and carry children up to 50 pounds safely.
• All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of employment.
• The candidate is responsible for paying the Criminal Background fee.
