About The Position
Kokua Education is seeking passionate individuals to become substitute teachers in College Station and the surrounding Houston area. This part-time role offers the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn up to $144 per day, and make a significant impact on students' lives. As a substitute teacher, you will be a positive role model, sparking a love for learning and helping students realize their potential. We are currently accepting applications for the 2026-27 school year, with the potential to start the interview process immediately. Kokua, meaning 'to come together to fulfill a need,' is dedicated to placing dedicated educators in classrooms.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience working with children in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, etc.).
- Completion of 48+ college credit hours.
- Confidence in managing a classroom of students.
- Willingness to assist with various school duties.
- Ability to pass state and federal background checks (costs reimbursed after 10 assignments).
- Belief that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
Responsibilities
- Substitute teach in K-12 classrooms.
- Manage a classroom of students.
- Step in where needed, including lunch/recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season.
