The Substitute Teacher helps students have continuous learning experiences when their regular classroom teacher is unavailable. Substitute teachers are on call and responsible for monitoring and maintaining a safe learning environment in place of the classroom teacher, following plans prepared by the regular classroom teacher. The position is part-time, hourly, and non-exempt, and reports to the Principal. The role requires a bachelor’s degree and a personal, mature commitment to faith in Jesus Christ, including active support for and affirmation of Calvin Christian School’s Statement of Faith, Foundational Beliefs, and mission statement. Candidates must demonstrate a clear Christian testimony and mature Christian character reflected in a life of faith, prayer, and biblical principles. An Illinois Substitute Certificate is preferred, as is experience working in a school and with children. Assignments are as needed, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Work is performed in a typical classroom environment, in an open room setting with moderate noise levels. There is no supervisory responsibility or travel requirement. Final candidates must complete a background check consistent with applicable laws. The school states that it does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, or national origin in the admission of students or employment of staff, and that background checks will comply with applicable laws, including the FCRA and ADA.
