About The Position

Kokua Education is seeking passionate Substitute Teachers to join our team in Los Angeles for the 2026-27 school year. In Hawaiian, Kokua means to come together to fulfill a need. We aim to place positive role models in classrooms who spark a love for learning. As a substitute teacher, you will have the opportunity to set your own schedule, earn up to $260 per day, and make a real difference in students' lives. We offer a path to full-time employment and the chance to teach in K-12 schools across the Los Angeles area. We provide real support, 6 am-8 pm daily, and value the unique experiences you bring to the classroom.

Requirements

At least 1 year working with kids in any setting (classroom, tutoring, coaching, etc.).
Bachelor’s degree or higher.
Hold a valid, unexpired California Teaching Credential (CTC) Sub Permit or full California Teaching Credential.
Feel confident managing a classroom of students.
Pass state & federal background checks.
Believe every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world.

Responsibilities

Teach in K-12 classrooms.
Manage a classroom of students.
Step in where needed, including lunch/recess supervision, hallway monitoring, tutoring, and proctoring during testing season.
Add representation and help kids learn from your unique experiences.
