Catholic Substitute Teacher
About The Position
Regina Caeli Academy (RCA) is seeking a part-time Substitute Teacher to teach in a classical and Catholic classroom for up to 14 hours per week. The position is located in Camas, Washington, near Portland, Oregon. Substitutes are called as needed when staff are unavailable, with the flexibility to decline assignments. RCA is a classical homeschool academy in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays during the academic year. Childcare/nursery is provided. No additional vacation days are given, but accommodations are made for sick days.
Requirements
- Ability to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
- Deep love for the Catholic faith.
- Living the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all appropriate sacraments.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good organization.
- Timeliness.
- A traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
- Must complete a background check.
- Must complete RCA Safe Child training.
Nice To Haves
- Experience homeschooling or working with homeschool children.
- Experience in ministry in your Catholic parish.
- Experience teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes.
- Experience teaching your own children.
- Experience teaching in a classical or private school.
Responsibilities
