About The Position

Caroline County Public Schools is hiring Substitute Teachers for the 2026–2027 school year. Qualified applicants will be contacted when an opening is available. An orientation and training session is required before starting. Substitute Teachers follow lesson plans, assignments, and instructional materials; maintain classroom order and discipline; take necessary safety precautions to protect students and school property; create an environment that supports student involvement; and help students achieve learning objectives. Other duties may be assigned.

Daily pay rates are $105 for non-degree substitutes, $130 for substitutes with a four-year degree, and $140 for Maryland-certified substitutes.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Ability to speak and write effectively and correctly.
• Indications of excellent human relations skills.
• Ability to pass a background screening and Maryland HB486 Background Check Screening.
• Attend a required orientation and training session before starting.

• Maintain classroom order and discipline conducive to effective learning.
• Take necessary safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Create a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process.
• Enable each student to achieve learning objectives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
