The Substitute Teacher provides educational, social, and emotional development for students by following the program standards of Educare of Omaha, Early Head Start, Sixpence, the Nebraska Department of Education, and NAEYC. The role enhances student learning when the regular classroom teacher is absent and maintains educational requirements while meeting children’s individual needs. Substitutes may work in one of two arrangements. Tier 1 is a flexible, on-call center-based floater role, with up to three shifts per week, covering daily absences, planning blocks, and short-term needs at an assigned Educare school. Tier 2 is a vacancy coverage pool role with a set bi-weekly schedule, providing consistent support in a classroom with an ongoing vacancy and floating across Educare sites as needed. The position is assigned to one of the Educare schools: Kellom, Indian Hill, Skinner, Gateway, or Kennedy. Temporary full-time and temporary part-time schedules are available, ranging from 8 to 40 hours per week.
