Substitute Teacher - EHS Children's Corner
About The Position
University Settlement is hiring a Substitute Teacher for EHS Children's Corner. The organization partners with more than 40,000 New Yorkers in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn each year, providing social services and community programs. Its Early Head Start program offers child development services, family support, and advocacy to low-income pregnant women and families with children under three, including developmentally appropriate care and home visits for families in the Lower East Side. The Substitute Teacher leads classroom sessions, supports classroom staff, and develops and implements an engaging, challenging, and playful curriculum. The role also involves building consistent, stable, and supportive relationships with children and communicating effectively with classroom staff and the direct supervisor. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor to fulfill job responsibilities. This is a per diem position at 565 Livonia Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for 35 hours per week. The hourly pay is $17.00. Requirements
- Two to three years of experience working with toddlers and preschoolers in a classroom setting.
- Good organizational, communication, and writing skills.
Nice To Haves
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or an associate degree in Early Childhood.
- Bilingual skills in English/Chinese or English/Spanish are strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
